Dragon Slayers

So... again another one of haplo's "crazy" ideas...

Noticing we had quite a few Cloud Evokers being held by LS members (Cloud Evokers are a very rare drop from quite a few ENMs, and are needed too gain access into the Ouryu Cometh BC) we decided too go up against some big bad dragons, for fun, glory, and the chance too get roasted again in "The Wyrmking Descends".

Before we could do this tho, we had too get a few members access too the BC, which meant a run of "Storms of Fate". This BC is always fun, as long as you dont all get BBQ'd *lol*

So we gathered together at the Rivene: Marzy (WHM), Snoop (SMN), Kysuke (NIN), Anacin (BLM), Bigawkward (MNK), Gruive (SAM), Snakerekon (BLM), Zaeon (DRK), Kanilla (WHM), Lunakitty (BLM), Minkus (SMN), Ellah (PLD), Arroh (RDM), Lenor (PLD) and special guests Slyshadows (DRK) and Celinakail (BRD)

Took him down without much drama, grats too everybody who needed the win ^_^

And so began the plotting of the downfall of our next target in "Ouryu Cometh" (this BC drops the Monarch Orb which allows access into "The Wyrmking Descends"). The stratery, although sounding complicated was simple enough. A tank party, consisting of 2 BRD's, RDM, WHM, BLU and a NIN/DRK would take care of Ouryu himself, a party of meat-heads were too handle the worm spawns/elementals, while the BLMs concentrated on taking down the big bad beast.. The plan worked suprisingly well, Lenor didnt lose hate once, and we made it with about 5 mins left too spare.

Fast foward a month, and another win later, we decide too put our Monarch Orb too good use, and have a go at taking down Bahamut, for a second time.. this time its dosent prove quite as easy...We enter and start buffing/sleeping for TP.. BRDs make sure all the melees get their *six* songs.. Kamos calls "GO!"

Everybody rushes in too take him down.. however due too some extremely bad luck, he BBQ's over half the melees in the first 20 seconds :(

Not long after he summons all his friends too come hunt us down.. Ouryu, Tiamat, Jourmy, the works.. and well.. result..

Did very well all things considering and wiped at about 15%, next time he wont be so lucky :(

The Hills Are Alive~

With the sound of bone crushing turtle stomping @_@;;

After days upon days of camping the Adamantoise Notorious Monster in the Valley of Sorrows for the final rare/exclusive item required for a Black Belt, Jojax felt sorry for Bigawkward and decided to hold a KSNM99 event for the Adamantoise Egg.

Gathering up as many black squishies and meatheads as possible, we made our way to the Waughroom Shrine, ready to cook up some Turtle Soup.

Tartaruga Gigante has one tough shell to crack. Smack him enough times and he sulks and treats into his shell where we gains {Impossible to gauge} regen and starts spamming high annoying high-tier -ga spells and ancient magic.

Here he is having a big sook after being schooled by the linkshell.

It was the first attempt at this KSNM for the linkshell. So for the first round it was us who got turned into turtle soup. There's nothing like swimming (or drowning) in Waterga IV...

Fortunately we managed to get our strategy down for the second try. With Jojax as the head Chef, we managed to nuke, skillchain and kite our way to three subsequent victories before everyone got too tired to continue.

And in the tradition of worthless Waughroon Shrine KSNM fights (read: Operation Desert Swarm), all we got was crapga.

We did at least me manage to secure an Adamantoise Egg for Biggy. So mission accomplished \(^ ^)/

May we never find you herding Velociraptors in the Valley of Sorrows again.

Uninvited Guests

Haplo had suggested a month or so back, that SR try the quest "Uninvited Guests" as a group. Basically its a similar fight too the mammet fight for CoP 2-5, the catch being the more people you take into the BCNM, the more mobs spawn (1 mammet will spawn per 2 people) up too a total of 9 for the alliance. The prize drop from this fight, Assault Breastplate only drops if you go in as a full alliance, so of course, thats what we went after... for bragging rights mainly ^.~

After Haplo finally rounded up all 18 members: Igneusnex (DRK), Haplo (NIN) Lenor (NIN), Ellah (PLD), Snakerekon (RDM), Slyshadow (DRK), Kanilla (WHM), Exxile (DRG), Daiakuji (SAM), Marzanna (WHM), Anacin (RDM), Lunakitty (BLM), Minkus (SMN), Snoop (SMN), Stinkypuppy (DRK), Gruive (BLU), Tsukai (BLU), Blackeyes (SMN).

We set off for Monarch Linn, it was a pretty eventless trip, apart from the mandatory Snakerekon death (comming seriously close too catching Drargens deathga count).

Haplo explained the basic stratergy, meat heads were too solo/duo a mob, while RDMs and WHMs try too silence, haste and prevent mass deathga.

It was a little chaotic, getting pwnd by another mobs AoE is always painful, but we pulled it off with few deaths. Of course Stinkypuppy died (twice) as predicted..

Mammets were pretty stingy, no Assault Breastplate T-T, but plenty of yellow liquids lol. Then it was back too the NPC too collect our loot.. there was a few miratete's memoirs, a mannequin head went too Slyshadows, an armoire went too Snakerekon, crimson jelly too Exxile, and i think the rest of us got stew or rice.

Big thanks too Haplo for organising the event and making sure it all ran smoothly, we will have another go at that breastplate soon. My BRD could use some more tav salads anyways (Thanks hap^^).

I Feel Like Chicken Tonight~

Jojax and Gruive have once again been busy little Sky-bees collecting God triggers. Along with their little band of trigger farmers they managed to get the triggers needed to pop Suzaku.
Off to Ru'Aun Gardens we go. Tonight we were joined by Haloneous (BLM). Other attendants were: Lenor (NIN/DRK), Kamos (PLD/NIN), Hiish (NIN/WAR), Lunakitty (BLM), Gruive (BLU/THF), Jojax (RDM/WHM), Courval (RNG/NIN), Igneusnex (DRK/THF), Tsukai (BLU/NIN), Kico-bot (Tamahiyo), and Arroh (RDM/DRK).

Apparently there's quite a huge difference in difficulty between Genbu and Suzaku. With only twelve people, we didn't know what to expect. Some people were expecting the worst. Others were a bit wary about having PLD/NIN and NIN/DRK tanks. We managed to do pretty well for a bunch of Sky nubcakes :3
Hiish popped the birdie and Igneusnex promptly got stomped on. We managed to get the big bad bird stablised until the birdie used its two hour move (Chainspell nuke-ga) and Kamos got stomped on. Luckily we had three tanks.

It took us a while to re-establish hate control. Everything else went smoothly after that.
Unfortunately, Suzaku wasn't in a generous mood and we got almost bugger all in terms of drops.
Neptunal Abjuration: Feet went to Hiish. Suzaku's seal went to Jojax for safe-keeping.

I wanna be a Roc Star~

Being an ordinary Social Linkshell that happen to have enough veterans to "do stuff", we usually ignore the calls of High-levelled or 24-hour-pop Notorious Monsters or because more often than not, they're a pain in the butt to deal with.

Hours, upon hours of camping against other HNM linkshells who like to trash-talk and use hacks and bots to get the upper hand - {No, Thanks.}

But Snoop happened to have the time of death, and no one was about for ages, so why not?
And so, who ever was free gathered together to take on the big bad birdy. Arroh and I were the first ones to arrive. With Snoop's "mage-bot" (Winney) in tow, we opened the Banishing Gates up to the Sauromugue Champaign and managed to claim Roc without any problems.

Shortly after Kariko, Marzanna and Keyne arrived to assist the group.

We took it down without much drama and were rewarded with Reraise, Vile Elixir, a Crimson Blade and Damascus Ingot!

Incidentally, we got the claim again with some outside help - including a Thief with Treasure Hunter 4 - and nothing of interest dropped.

Which goes to show what a SHAM Treasure Hunter really is....

Saturday Night Limbus: Central Apollyon!

After some extra Apollyon runs by some eager Limbus beavers, we managed to get another set of Central Apollyon chips. Time to have another go at Proto-Omega.

Today we are joined by: Lenor (NIN/DRK), Lunakitty (BLM), Jojax (RDM), Gruive (BLU), Marzanna (BRD), Igneusnex (DRG), Vashanti (WHM), Drargen (RDM), Kamos (BLM), Haplo (NIN), Stinkypuppy (WHM), Kariko (DRK), Tamahiyo (RDM), Arroh (afk PLD) , Bigawkward (MNK) and newcomer Tsukai (BLU).

Fifteen people. Our runs sure are getting more popular these days.
The NIN/DRK main tank tonight was Haplo. I was "supervising" (Gunpod duty). Proved to be a bit harder as NIN/DRK though. Igneusnex unfortunately got eaten by a Gunpod before I managed to get its attention. There weren't too many Gunpods to look out for though, we were going for the win.

Overall the fight went very smoothly. It was a clear and decisive victory. We'll probably try to farm him for Gunpods next time.

Omega was kind of stingy that night though. Homam Manopolas for Kamos and Arroh. Gunpod dropped White Rivet which went to Kamos. Everyone else got 1 Ancient Beastcoin each.

SR Takes to the Skies: Genbu

Friday night.

I thought I'd be "good" and go out for drinks with some co-workers for a change. Who knew when I came home I'd be dragged by the Linkshell all the way up to Sky to have a smackdown with Genbu, the God of the East.

Sky. Otherwise known as Tu'lia, the area is privy to all sorts of end game linkshell dramas: from problems with RMT (Real Money Traders) to corrupt Linkshells. The competition is fierce and the drops are on average, horrid.

In general, we've been avoiding dabbling in Sky to prevent such dramas. But recently, Jojax and Gruive had been working hard on gathering triggers for certain Gods. Wouldn't want to put their efforts to waste.
Here's the strike team: Vashanti (RDM), Bigawkward (MNK), Lunakitty (BLM), Gruive (BLU), Lenor (NIN/DRK), Jojax (RDM), Kamos (BLM), Igneusnex (DRG), Kariko (DRK).

The plan was to stright tank, but before the fight, Jojax went over the emergency kite path in the event of a wipe.
Thanks to well co-ordinated skillchains and stuns, the fight went prety smoothly. We didn't need to kite until the middle of the fight when Genbu got in a one-shotter as I was trying to get my shadows back up. It was all over in about 15 minutes.

And our reward:
Genbu's Kabuto went to Bigawkward. Wyrmal Abjuration for Crimson Greaves went to Kariko. Seal of Genbu went to Gruive and the Venomous Claw went to Jojax for future end-game scheming...
But an SR report wouldn't be an SR report without a Deathga Summary!

Deathga Report:
Igneusnex was the first one to go down as Genbu stomped when he took hate after a skillchain. Lenor one-shotted with her shadows down. He was also angry at Lunakitty and Kamos for obvious BLM reasons.

Saturay Night Limbus: Temenos Central Floor 1

Thanks to the efforts of the Promathia Zerg Team, we managed to get four new faces into our Limbus group! And what better way to welcome the newbies than to drag them to Temenos Central Floor 1. Welcome also goes out to Arroh for joining our merry band :3Today we are joined by: Spierz (BLM), Gruive (BLU), Jojax (RDM), Snoop (PLD), Kariko (DRK), Stinkypuppy (WHM), Lunakitty (BLM), Tamahiyo (RDM), Arroh (PLD), Igneusnex (DRK), Lenor (THF), Marzanna (BRD), Vashanti (RDM), Kysuke (NIN), Bigawkward (MNK).

And for once, we had more than enough mages!
I ran on ahead so I missed most of the drama, but apparently Igneusnex managed to drown himself at sea on the way to Temenos. This is the aftermath of his recovery. Vashanti was kind enough to resuscitate him. Tamahiyo almost got eaten by a shark on the way to Temenos too. Aren't large-group treks fun.
It's the first time any of us has stepped into the halls of Central Temenos. Floor 1 looks like it was invaded by mobs from Xarcabard. We had 45 limits to mop the floor with the Ghost, Dragon, Skeleton, Ahriman, Weapon and Magic Pot. Sounds easy enough - especially with 15 people.
Kysuke discovers the joy of being lv 74 as the Ahriman decided to spam Lv 5 Petrify.
Overall it was a pretty easy-going run. Everything died without too much drama... for once.

Loot Report: 4 Ancient Beastcoins for everyone. An Orchid Chip for the Linkshell. And some AF+1 piece that nobody wanted went to the floor.

After two months of zerging on weekends, the third-gen Promathia Zerg Team has finally made it to sea!

Congratulations go out to: Kysuke (NIN73), Bigawkward (MNK75), Snoop (SMN75), Spierz (BLM75) and Tamahiyo (RDM61)!

The June updates did much to ease the pain for sea-farers these days. PM7-5 proved to be significantly easier than the first time around for me. I was even able to get away with wearing my spunky new Qiqirn Hood!

Saturday Night Limbus, Temenos West

After weeks of begging for Temenos West to be put on the schedule, the Linkshell finally got its wish, so off it was to Temenos West for some much needed AF+1 and Ancient Beastcoin farming.

But first, here's some Galka fan service, courtesy of Kamos!

Tonight, we were joined by Igneusnex, Gruive, Kariko, Lunakitty, Jojax, Lenor, Marzanna, Drargen, Kamos, Hiish...
Or at least, until we realised that "pulls" were called for too early and we effectively locked out our only tank. And so, tonight's run was completed TANKLESS (since I was on Treasure Hunter duty as my perma-farming THF).

Apologies to Hiish (/.\)

The first floor took us 15 minutes to clear. Luckily we managed to find a Time Chest on the second floor. As usual, luck played a critical part in completing this area. At one stage we were 2 minutes left on the clock before a Time Chest drop at the sixth floor secured us some chance of clearing the area.
Deathga Report: no one - despite being a tankless alliance, which was surprising o_o Kudos to our support mages for keeping everyone alive and well.

Loot Report: We managed to bag 63 coins tonight which brought us to a whooping total of 70 (7 coins each). It was SAM night tonight, with 3 scarlet odoshi dropping ~~to the floor~~. Marzanna went home with a Plaited Cord to complete her NIN AF+1 items and Igneusnex took home the WAR AF+1 item. Kariko unwitting ly ended up with the BRD and SMN AF+1.

Nekkid Fun! SR's First Salvage Run

A few weeks ago, the "powers that be" in ShadowRavenloft decided it was time to get off our butts and give Salvage a try. Tonight we would be exploring the Silver Seas Remenants. Our brave exploration team includes: Dutrance, Bigawkward, Lunakitty, Lenor, Jojax, Kysuke, Gruive, Marzanna, Vashanti.

We gather around the Gilded Doors of the Silver Seas Remanents, eagerly anticipating what's inside...

...and promptly get stripped of the ability to wear equipment. Our hit points, magic points and stats were severely nerfed too. Job abilities, magic, even support jobs were restricted as well.

FAN-tastic.

Fortunately, after the April patch, they've changed Salvage so that an Armoury Create containing a certain number of "cells" can be found in the first room. These cells unlock certain abilities. Jojax was put in charge of cell assignment. Since it was our first time, people took some time casting lots and passing on cells that weren't assigned to them.
The first floor of the Silver Seas Remanents were full of Fomors. Talking the easier route, we farmed as many as we could in order to unlock more of our party member's abilities.

Overall, they were pretty easy to handle. We made sure everyone came prepared with some meds to make the run smoother.

The first death came just as we were heading to the teleporter up to the second floor. Congratulations go to Marzanna for being the first casualty on our first Salvage run!
Up we go to the second floor. The second floor contained a mixture of Imps and Fomors. The Fomors would aggro and link to sound. The Imps would aggro the Fomors by sight.

We weren't up for massive amounts of Deathga, so we took the "easier" path which involved taking down two Imp Notorious Monsters.

These Imps were annoying. There were two of them in the room: the first one spammed an AoE Silence ability. The second one meleed like it was a Monk using Hundred Fist.
Despite overdosing on Echo Drops, we managed to bring both of them down without too much drama. The second Imp NM dropped the lv. 15 gear for Skadi-leg gear which went to Dutrance - Congratulations!

Up to the third floor we go. The third floor contain Archaic mobs. We've run into them before during boredom Nyzul Isles runs and they are mean little buggers.

In order to progress, we needed to clear the room. Things got a little hairy when they started linking and detecting magic. Kysuke became the second victim during our quest. After clearing the room of all gears, this NM showed up. Beating it down wasn't too much of an issue. It was nice enough to drop an item for the Marduk gear set (forgot which piece - I think it was body), which went to Marzanna. Congratulations!
There was also another Imp NM. He was just as annoying as the others because he was fast and liked to teleport away when the going got tough for him. What a wuss.

We tried to sneak up to the fourth floor, but got caught out by the Archaic Gears. Vashanti died on the way up. We tried to hold back the aggressive gears as one of our members made their way to the teleporter.
We reached the fourth floor with 10 minutes to go. Up ahead were more Archaic gears. Dutrance with his l33t Flee skills ran on ahead to train all the gears in the way with Jojax in tow. Dutrance died for the cause and Jojax teleported us to the last floor.

With only 30 seconds on the clock, we had no chance of taking down the Long Chariot waiting for us on the fifth floor, so I did the only thing I could for a dramatic finish.
Overall it went pretty smooth for our first Salvage run. We're so proud of our minions :p Everyone will have to get used to passing and casting lots in mid-battle though, but it should be something that will improve as people participate in more runs.

Besides the lv. 15 gear drops, we also got two Silver Seas Cards.

Saturday Night Limbus, Apollyon NW

Well, we didn't win against Proto-Omega last week, but we didn't fail miserably either!

With hearts set on revenge, we set off to try to get another set of Central Apollyon chips. Proto-Omega was kind enough to drop us a Smoky Chip last so that left Apollyon SW, SE, and NW to go.
We wanted beastcoins - and lots of it. But we already got the chip for Apollyon NE so it was off to NW. We also wanted to give NIN/DRK a try against the mages.

Roll Call: Lunakitty, Jojax, Vashanti, Hiish, Gruive, Xenonsmurf, Lenor, Drargen, Dutrance, Marzanna, Igneusnex.

Tonight we welcome Hiish (PLD and NIN) into our jolly band of Limbo-ers. Welcome!!

Apollyon NW - where the mages run free. Forget about the mobs staying still after the initial voke. These Apollyon Scavengers didn't even know what hit them. The whole run went smoothly all the way up to the last floor.

Skipping major headaches like Fafnir-like mobs, We had 51 minutes to finish off the last floor. With all the experience we've had playing with Kaiser Behemoth, we wiped the floor with him with 30 minutes to spare...

We probably should have spent a little more time killing the other mobs.

Deathga Reports: Hiish (first floor), Lenor (Kaiser Behemoth), Drargen multiple times (as usual) on Kaiser Behemoth.

Itamz: 47 Ancient Beastcoins acquired in total. 4 coins each. DRG AF+1 for Drargen. Nothing else worth mentioning.

The Deathga Reports: Murder at the Sacrarium

With the new CoP team reaching mission 4-3 after last week's win against Ouryu, and an increased number of people who want a swift belt, it was decided to hold another swift belt/subligar/sacrarium key farming session.
Bigger group than the last time we ran Swift Belt events. Beating down these Fomors should be a snap!

Of course the first challenge we faced was getting such a large group through the high-aggro labyrinth without getting lost or being eaten by the undead...
Deathga Round #1
It was phailure to the max. The first Noob Award of the night going to Zaeon for running headlong into the undead maze without putting on Sneak first. Snoop died during the rescue operation and Samuri died because Sneak wore in the middle of the maze.

Well, after we got everyone up, we set up camp just outside the classroom where Balor popped and started clearing the area of ever single fomor in sight. There were eight people with Fomor Codexes that night - nine if you count the fact that Dutrance has a "spare". We were in for a long haul, so there was no time for mucking around!

Dutrance had the first chance at popping Balor which went off without a hitch. Unfortunately Balor didn't feel like parting with his precious belt (T^T)

Second pop belonged to Samuri. Balor was feeling generous this time and he scored himself a Swift Belt - Congratulations!!
Deathga Round #2
It was either right after Dutrance or Samuri's pop that things started going pear-shaped. Note the guys wearing the blue linkshell in the background. They were there for Promathia Mission 4-3 - The Secrets of Worship.

We had just gone back to camp outside the classroom when, unable to take the heat, the guys in the blue LS came to the entrance of the classroom and one-by-one started dropping like flies.

The Good Samaritan Award goes to Snoop for raising the other guys when asked to.

Of course, being a Good Samaritan in FFXI is a double-edged sword. Good Ol' Professor Mariselle didn't like having his victims interfered with, and decided to start eating our alliance. Things weren't looking good, so I ordered my party to Escape.

The next 15-20 minutes would be spent watching shrieks of panic and disbelief as Professor Mariselle and his little Pupils continued to eat our alliance even after some people logged out to try to reset hate. Not even zoning helped. Mariselle took the trouble of sending one of his Pupils to send welcome us back - how sweet...

Lesson learned: Be a Good Samaritan AFTER NMs DESPAWN, otherwise they may decide to get revenge on you. Hate will not reset even if you log off.

Not since the first trek through the Phomiuna Aqueducts and the Library murders has there been a massacre so big among the SR ranks.

Since most of my party managed to get out in one piece, I wasn't there to witness the carnage. If you want to know more about how Professor Mariselle schooled the people of ShadowRavenloft, free feel to read Kysuke's account of it on the LS forums!
The Aftermath. Lookit all the dead bodies - not including the ones who logged off in the hope that Professor Mariselle would forget about them.

After picking everyone up and re-establishing the alliance, it was back to business. We cleared the room and Gruive popped Balor on Watabou's behalf while I used Dutrance's second trigger. Unfortunately Balor wasn't willing to part with anymore of his Swift Belts. The death toll continued to rise with Samuri getting beaten down by a pile of eyes who didn't find him very {Charm}ing and Tamahiyo eating Eagle Eye Shot by one very annoyed Balor.

It was quite busy that night in the Sacrarium with another group running a Swift Belt run. Kind of tried of begging Balor for Swift Belts, we decided to let the other group monopolise Balor and moved to the other side for some Mithra Fomor action.
Somewhere in that mess of spells and job abilities is Caithleann, the Mithra Fomor NM. She wasn't too bad although Chainspell could be dangerous to Ninja tanks. Luckily we had the numbers that night to make sure she didn't get any funny ideas with it.
Bigawkward was kind enough to use Foreversaijin's trigger on his behalf. Indich the Galka Fomor tried to use lolSoulVoice against us. Maybe it would have been more of a threat if he spamed Horde Lullabye or something...

Caithleann was robbed of Swift Belts two out of three times with Tamahiyo and Kariko receiving theirs and Spier, unfortunately missing out. Indich was kind enough to drop one for Foreversaijin.

We had one Fomor Codex pop left to do that night. Unfortunately quite a mass of people were still gathered outside Balor's room.
It's been a long night of struggles against the undead. Some of us were destined to become zombies in the morning if we didn't escape, so unfortunately, Kysuke's trigger was to be postponed for a later date.

Everyone was warped or teleported home, or deathga-warped out Ninja style.
Loot Report:
50% drop rate that night. Congratulations to Samuri, Tamahiyo, Kariko and Foreversaijin. Condolensces to Watabou, Dutrance (x2) and Spier for missing out.

Quite a number of underpants that nobody wanted dropped as well. lolDRG x2, lolBRD all fell to the floor. But Samuri (BRD), Tamahiyo (RDM), Kariko (DRK), Zaeon (DRK), Foreversaijin (SMN), and Bigawkward (MNK) went home with some.

Make sure you get Brygid to wash them before use!

Saturday Night Limbus, Temenos East

Desperately seeking the last two chips for another showdown with Proto-Omega, we decided to try Apollyon SW, but were beaten by the JP linkshells again. With people unable to queue because of time restrictions, it was decided to give Temenos East a try.

Roll Call: Lunakitty (BLM), Vashanti (RDM), Lenor (NIN), Marzanna (WHM), Kariko (DRK), Kryogenik (WHM), Jojax (RDM), Alvar (THF).

This is me, getting lost in a new area...
Temenos East consists of seven floors and four elementals of the same group on one floor. Each elemental drops a chest. You can only open one chest.

How stingy. I hate Limbus stages like these...

Temenos East, Elemental country. Being so meathead-oriented, this area would have been a nightmare for SRLS. Fortunately, the Elementals of Temenos East weren't that resistant to physical attacks.
Two of the elementals drop an Items chest. One is real, one spawns a Mystic Avatar that corresponds to the elemental group of that floor. We spawned Garuda on the Wind Elemental floor. Lunakitty over nuked as usual and got eaten by the Avatar 2 hour.

We also spawned the Mystic Avatar for the Earth Elemental floor. Man, he's one ugly guy. Luckily his 2 hour wasn't as nasty.

We wanted to win so just we opted to get the time chest on the second last floor, but the Dark Elementals on the last floor didn't give us much trouble. Especially since Alvar picked the right box and thereby avoiding the big bad puppy (Fenrir).

Loot Report: Ancient beastcoins. Congratulations to Kariko for finally completing materials for DRK AF+1 gear.

Saturday Night Limbus, Temenos West

Due to popular demand, the linkshell decided to have another Temenos tour tonight. So off we were to see the white, cermet walls of Temenos.

Attendance: Lunakitty (BLM), Lenor (NIN), Dutrance (THF), Xenonsmurf (BLM), Gruive (BLU), Marzanna (BRD), Alvar (THF), Kariko (DRK), Vashanti (RDM). Nine people - looks like the usual level of participation...
Temenos West - otherwise known as the "zoo". This tiger was really thrilled at the idea of being lynched for ancient beastcoins again. It was a smooth run overall, unfortunately we didn't clear the area because they were really stingy with the Time Chests.

With most of the linkshell crying for some Temenos action, we decided to give Temenos farming a try tonight. Temenos West was taken so it was Temenos North.

You may recall our last trip to Temenos North. It was a mess.

This time, we have Luna back as resident BLM and 11 minions, including two new faces: Xenonsmurf and Kryogenik. Minocia's {master} allowed him to play for the night too. There's hope yet!

The majority of the LS wanted to farm by killing tonight, so we decided rampage through Apollyon SE.
Tonight we welcome Kariko into the LS. Kariko jumped all the way from Fenrir just to join us - cool huh? :3

So that brings tonight's line up to: Lenor (NIN), Lunakitty (BLM), Kariko (DRK), Vashanti (RDM), Jojax (MNK), Marzanna (BRD), Solonuke (RDM), Gruive (BLU), Ignuesnex (DRG), Alvar (THF).
Usually do our best to avoid obstacles on the way to killing the Black Card NM and the Swirling Vortex. But tonight, the Black Card NM was no where to be found and this guy was in the way. Bored linkshells like to touch things, so why not. Besides, the UFO tried to abduct Vash.

Things were going great until the UFO decided to charm all of the meatheads whacking away at its underbelly. And we all know how many meatheads there are in ShadowRavenloft LS...
And so, the meatheads turned on the squishies. The details are hazy for me, but I'm pretty sure Marzanna was killed in the massacre. Luna died trying to save everyone with her BLM sleep skillz. Alvar ran off with the UFO after that while everyone tried to recover from the carnage. I decided to continue looking for the damn Black Card NM.

That's pretty much all the excitement to report. The Black Card NM was found and it was business as usual after that. Fantastic drops tonight with two RDM pieces dropping at the first floor.

Deathga Report: People actually died today! Woo! Marzanna, Lunakitty, Vashanti during the UFO massacre. Gruive, Igneusnex, Lenor on the first floor (Fluid Spread + no shadows is teh suck).

Loot Report: 48 coins at the end of the run in total + 4 from previous runs = 5 ancient beastcoins each. RDM AF+1 x2 dropped on the first floor and went to Jojax and Vashanti. PLD and BST AF+1 items dropped on the second floor. Kariko auto-received the BST piece. I decided to hold onto the PLD piece (inv -1 - alright!). SMN AF+1 item on the third floor is being hoarded by Gruive. WHM AF+1 went to Lunakitty for a smashing lot of 95, which reflects her regard for the job in general and Alvar took the WAR AF+1 item.

2/4 chips for Omega. Not long now until our second set.

I've been feeling quite bored lately. Bored enough to try to start another CoP static with some of "newer" members of the LS. It would also be nice to have a couple more regulars to our Limbus runs (although at the moment we'd probably only get one new regular XD)

Getting back to it, I decided to hold a Promyvion-Dem/ENM run for two LS members who haven't started the CoP missions.

Chains of Promathia. In the past it was feared as the hardest expansion to complete. Many of Vana'diel's children have yet to see the fields of Lufaise Meadows because of how much trouble it was to put together a random, well-prepared, well-stocked group of six people.

Now, radical changes in the June 2007 updates has toned down the missions in terms of time and the effort it takes to do them - BIG TIME!

Anyway, here's the group that did the climb tonight.
Setup: Lenor (DRK/WAR, WAR/NIN), Jojax (WAR/NIN, MNK/WAR), Eja (WAR/NIN), Skeith (BLU/NIN), Solonuke (RDM/WHM), Zaeon (WHM/BLM).

Now, let's play a game of: What's missing from this picture?
zOMG! Altana ate the hordes of empty mobs! \(T^T)/

She made them level down too. The Promyvion-boss look a like on the first floor now check as Decent Challenge instead of Tough. We aggroed a Gorger on the third floor and Zaeon didn't even break a sweat. White mages with MP make me /emo...

Even the MRs didn't pack as huge a punch as they did before the update.

With these changes, it was no trouble getting to the fourth floor - the infamous gauntlet stage. In the past, much adrenaline was pumped on the fourth floor of Promyvions. Once it starts, there's no turning back. It was "run-for-your-lives" or risk being eaten by mobs and having your carcass dragged through half the map by the resident BLMs.

Welp, after the update, this is what remains of the once mighty Promyvion gauntlet:

So we all reach the Spire of Dem in one piece, and after going through the basics for the CoP nubcakes, we do the ENM first and then the mission boss. I ended up dying in the ENM. What can I say? Jelly Emo-Knights and Provoke just doesn't mix. But that's ok because Zaeon was able to give me a raise.

And after pumping the Promyvion-Dem mission boss full of Psychoanima and Hysteroanima, he didn't put up much of a fight either.
Total finish time: 1Hour.

We finished the whole thing at 10:53pm AEST. So thanks to the convenience of Auction House-vended anima, we decided to do Promyvion-Holla + ENM as well. Back to Jeuno it was for a re-stock and slight job changes. Then it was off to the Crag of Holla for some Promyvion-Holla action.
Thanks to the trees and narrow sections in Promyvion-Holla, there were some tricky areas to get past and some monsters we had to kill along the way. But the gauntlet is still very much nerfed. We aggroed a Thinker-mob and I got lost along the way. In the past we would have been punished for such mistakes. These days you'd be lucky to have two or three angry empty monsters after you on the way to the Spire. You'd have to run around gathering them on purpose.
We manage to get to the Spire of Holla all in one piece. The ENM went off without a hitch. Even better was that the Vision item for the Evasion Earring dropped! About 500,000G to split between six people that night - woo hoo!
As for the actual mission boss. He was a bit harder to bring down than the Promyvion-Dem boss. Especially after he managed to land Slow towards the end of the battle. He still got schooled though, and everyone walked home in one piece with 9000 experience points in total (3000 for ENM, 1,500 for the mission) and a 500,000G earring.

It was a pretty productive night ^^

In closing, as a CoP veteran, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with the new changes. I can see the perks in AH-vendable anima and XP rewards at the completion of the mission. Those additions were rather nice for the most part. But I kinda miss the rush you get when dancing around herds of empty monsters and trying to get through the fourth-level gauntlet in one piece.

Standard cookie cutter party, yes? I don't know about you but this LS static party is pretty broken.

Let's take a look at just how broken this party is...

#1 The PLD evades, tanks in DD gear and eats sushi
Check out the sexy damage on that Vorpal Blade. The fact that NIN is my first job means capped evasion all the way to lv 75 not to mention 4 Evasion Merit points. As a result, the WHM has too much MP when we're taking on VT mobs, so unless it's IT+ mobs it's DD gear + sushi all the way.

#2 Possibly gimpiest, laziest WHM in all of Vana'diel
Managed to reach lv 62 without Reraise II or Cure V or her Healer's Mitts. Sits on her butt most of the time and only gets up to cast Regen and Haste.

#3 The most anemic, suicidal RNG/WAR around
I mean, most RNGs go nuts with the DMG and the hate, but this guy will throw weaponskills at the beginning of the fight. He's restricted to WAR sub only, which is the reason for his anemia.

#4 A BLM who can't Stun
We decided to party in Gustav Tunnel one night so that Minocia can practise his Sleep and Stun skills. He was missing all night until of course, I used my inflated NINpride to make a bet with Asheroth that Minocia would not be able to land Stun on a Goblin's Bomb Toss for the remainder of the static session that night. Free ice cream was up for grabs.

I had just told Asheroth my favourite flavour of ice cream when, he actually landed one.
Typical. Ice cream milkshake for Ash that weekend.

#5 BRD - makes any party broken

Saturday Night Limbus, Apollyon NE

Around we go again...

Because of your dismal turnout at the moment (people are still busy with exams and stuff) and our inexperience with Proto-Omega (non-existant), we've decided to post-pone the epic battle for the moment and concentrate on getting a spare set of Apollyon chips.

We had a decent turnout for trigger farming tonight, so we decided to farm Apollyon NE. I love this area - even when you target just triggers you get a decent amount of coins for a small group.
Roll Call: Lenor (NIN), Lunakitty (BLM), Alvar (THF), Marzanna (BRD), Solonuke (RDM), Jojax (MNK), Igneusnex (DRG), Gruive (BLU) and this week we welcome Stinkypuppy (WHM) and we welcome back our beloved LS play-boy and MT-King Vashanti (RDM).

Overall it was a really smooth run. We even finished waay before midnight (AEST) for once! The only death to be reported was by Vashanti - he had a little accident with the Mandies on the first floor.

Loot Report: We managed to get all items chests on all floors!
* Ancient Beastcoins total: 64 (plus 5 from previous runs) ! 6 coins for each person.
* AF+1 loot: SAM (went to Jojax - probably got tossed), DRG (went to Marzanna - safe to say it was tossed), DRK (Igneusnex), NIN (was supposed to go to Alvar but I think he d/ced)
* Random Clot Plasma drop went to Gruive.

Sunday Night Limbus, Apollyon NW

Tonight was round #3 for Apollyon NW. Due to extraordinary circumstances, we held this week's Limbus run was held on a Sunday night.
Attendants: Solonuke (RDM), Jojax (MNK), Keyne (BLM), Ronin (BRD), Balak (RDM), Lunakitty (BLM), Lenor (NIN), Marzanna (WHM), Gruive (BLU), Alvar (THF), Drargen-bot (RDM).

Out of all the Apollyon areas, NW must be my least favourite. Mostly because it's so mage bias and really hurts our meathead oriented linkshell. Fortunately we managed to get some help from Keyne and his friend Balak tonight. All the mobs in this area are really ugly too.
As usual, most of the mobs on the floor were skipped unless they were in the way or we had to kill them to open the portal.

No mishaps on the way to the top but Kaiser Behemoth was being stubborn as usual.
Round and round we go. The best way to take down KB is to run loops around the middle of the room. Of course the BLMs were there to pull hate on purpose, making my life somewhat difficult.
Deaths all around as usual thanks to Meteor but through some amazing miracle, everyone else except Lunakitty died. Isn't that something. The going was still tough, but with two BLMs in the group, we were able to nab the win for a complete set of Proto-Omega chips!

Too bad it will probably be a while before we go up against him. At lot of people are on hiatus because of exams/real life commitments ^^;

Oh well, some day...

Loot Report: Not much of anything since we were after the win. Everyone had 3 ancient beastcoins each. 5 were put into the pot for next week.

Saturday Night Limbus, Apollyon NW Round #2

I managed to get home in time this time for round #2 of Apollyon NW. Attendance was about as fantastic as last week...
Attendance: Igneusnex (DRG), Lenor (NIN), Gruive (BLU), Jojax (RDM), Marzanna (NIN), Lunakitty (BLM), Ronin (BRD).

It was the second time the group attempted this Limbus area, and the first time I tried it myself (I couldn't get home in time the previous week).
Like last week, most of the action happened on the top floor with the Behemoths, or as Luna likes to call them, "Mr. Musclybutt". We skipped what we could from the first three floors and made our way to the last floor.
Unfortunately, we were still underpowered and inexperienced to take on KB. Meteor really is a pain in the ass.

Loot Report: We ran out of time. Everyone got 4 ancient beastcoins as a consolation prize.

Diabolos Prime gets schooled by SR!

I only got 3 Cure V off, 2 on jo and 1 on mino..Oh, i got too bene... afterwards, which was good coz i think we all would have died otherwise, fun fight tho ;D

With Mr. Grunts (Kamos) busy digging holes for himself and Lenor all at sea without a train (so she was waaaay late), it's fallen on me to provide commentory on this weeks misadventures in limbo-land.

Turn-out was even worse than usual:
Marzanna NIN, Solonuke DRK, Dutrance THF, Ronin BST (yes BST in limbus!), Gruive BLU, Jojax RDM and I was BLM.

Being the plucky (or foolhardy) group that we are, we decided that we had a perfect setup for Apollyon NW.

Yes Apollyon NW with mini-Fafnir and mini-King Behemoth.

The first floor went pretty well... except when Marzanna got eaten for 800+ damage by one of the pillows. We managed to dispose of Pluto as well (who the heck comes with names for these mobs).

This a cute Pluto. The Pluto we found in NW Apollyon does not look anything like this.

The second floor consisted of rams which were relativlely straightforward, but we decided to avoid the NM and skipped to the third floor. Conscious of time, we merely aimed to get to the time chests on each floor and cleared only the mobs that were guarding the time and restore chests.

Progress was good and steady up to this point. Then problems arose on the fourth floor. In our eagerness to get up to the final floor as quickly as possible, we somehow managed to wave a red flag in front of mini-fafnir in our attempt to get the last time chest.

Knowing we were undermanned for playing with this big 'ol dragon we beat feet and ran for the portal.

We all made it except for Marzanna, who ate terror 10" from the portal and promptly got squished, with no RR up either as the wyrms had dispelled it previously.

That left six of us BLU, BST, THF, DRK, RDM, BLM to clear the last floor of its 3 Behemoths and 1 King Behemoth. Notice the high quality of tanks we have left here...

The behemoths we managed to take out by manaburning with gravity with the melee running and whacking, but it did take time. Then came Kaiser Behemoth.

I suck at taking screenies, but the first comment Dutrance said was...

"Look at that muscly ass! He must work out or something!"

I suck at taking screenies. You can vaguely see a muscly butted King Behemoth waaaay up the back there.

Edit: Dutrance kindly supplied us with a better view. Depending on your personal inclinations this picture may not be work safe...

We sort of knew the tactics... the person with hate runs around the big hole in the centre while the others nuke and melee him, especially while he stands still for meteor. We started out ok, but then we had a few confused moments.

4/6 members of the party promptly ate meteor and fell over, leaving Ronin to kite him with his pink BST charmy hearts. Fortunately a few of us still had RR up, recovered, and we spent the rest of the time wearing him down, but time ran out and he still had half HP left when we got kicked out.

Drops for the night: Benedict Yarn, 40 beastcoins - not bad considering we were more scouting than going for the win.

A Perfect Night to be at Sea! Apollyon NE, The Ashu Talif

The SR Limbus Brigade was back to its regular level of attendance this week. But that didn't stop us from walking all over Apollyon NE!
Attendance: Gruive (BLU), Davina (RDM), Lunakitty (BLM), Lenor (NIN), Marzanna (WHM), Ronin (BRD), Jojax (MNK), Dutrance (THF).

We've attempted this area before for farming purposes and got as far as the top floor before being eaten by a herd of cows. With only two wins away from a date with Proto-Omega, we decided to take a chance and try for the win by targetting only Portal Trigger NMs.
Wary of how much time we spent on each floor, our main objective was to only open the portals and farm at the last floor. We skipped the Item Chest NMs on the first and third floor but got lucky with the drop on the second floor. In the end, we had enough time to play with the Item Chest NM on the fourth floor and slaughter every single cow (Dhamel) on the last floor for more Ancient Beastcoins.

Loot Report: Despite going on for the win, we managed to net 50 Ancient Beastcoins! Everyone who attended got 6 coins each, leaving 2 for the pot for a total of 7 for next week's run. DRK AF+1 item was tossed. Congratulations to Davina for SMN AF+1 item and Marzanna for getting THF AF+1 item (LAWLZ!).

SR LS was in full force for Limbus this week. Which was pretty rare indeed o_o

Unfortunately, it seemed that a lot of groups wanted to do Limbus as well so after jumping from Apollyon NE to Apollyon NW, we finally decided on Apollyon SW because some JP group decided to jump ahead of us.
Attendants: Marzanna (NIN), Gruive(BLU), Barefoot(NIN), Lunakitty (BLM), Drargen (RDM), Igneusnex (DRG), Dutrance (THF), Lenor (NIN), Solonuke (DRK), Davina (RDM), Vashanti (WHM), Ronin (BRD), Jojax (MNK).

We wanted to go for the win and because you could only one chest on certain floors, we didn't get much in the way of ancient beastcoins and AF+1 loot.

Actually, the most annoying thing about these Jidra is that they dispelga your Reraise status along with other buffs. They didn't give us too much trouble.

To ensure victory, we opted to pick up Time Chests on the first two floors. We farmed Mimics on the third floor until we got the Item Chest and a Time Chest. Then with the remaining time, we killed the elementals required for the Item Chest on the last floor and farmed the rest for ancient beastcoins until our time in the area was about to run out.
Loot Report: 3 ancient beastcoins for everyone, 5 remaining in the pot for the next run. Congratulations on Jojax for getting the RDM AF+1 item. Enjoy your sexy hat +1.

Doing the Jungle Boogymen

We poor! So it was time to lynch Tonberries for various Torques and Elemental Ores! Q(''Q)

We've done "Jungle Boogymen" before and it was pretty darn profitable for mass BCNM events. It's a pretty straight forward too. All you need is a Sleeper (read: BLM), some healers and damage dealers to take out the mobs one by one. The only hassle is getting everyone through the Wooden Gate leading to the Sacrificial Chamber - especially with less than 4 lanterns.

Special thanks to Gruive of helping to open the gate to the Sacrificial Chamber.

Saturday Limbus Report: Apollyon SE

Well, another weekend, another Limbus round. Luna is finally back (somewhat) after running away for holidays! Yay!

Unfortunately, a lot of people were not available because of RL or other LS commitments, so with the group of 9 people we managed to gather together, we farmed for beastcoins in Apolloyn SE..

The CoP-baby Zaeon wanted to come along for the ride to see what all the fuss was about, so we dragged him along for the ride. You should be so lucky, other LSes wouldn't have gone to all the trouble! :0
As usual, the third floor took up most of the time but thanks to our strong melee backbone, we were able to decimate all the weapons on the last floor before time was up. And as usual, we got the AF drops that nobody wanted :p

Loot Report: 45 Ancient Beastcoins - 5 per person. Zaeon declined the coins, so the remaining 5 will be pooled for next week's session. AF +1 Materials - SMN (toss), PLD (toss), DRK (went to Solonuke - Congratuations!), WHM x2 (toss - lol).

Congratulations is also in order for Vash for getting the Loquacious Earring from last week, Jojax for getting a Brutual

After passing a couple more people through The Black Coffin missions, we thought it was time to try making this into a regular event, so we decided to try tacking it onto the end of the Limbus sessions.
Everything was going well until we got overwhelmed while fighting in the middle of the boat. I forgot how crazy the mobs got -_-

Fortunately, we still managed to get SOME gil by switching to the Double Dragonian KSNM. The drops weren't really appropriate for mass selling and splitting, but it was better than nothing ^^;

Saturday Limbus Report, Temenos West

Once again we delve deep into the depths of the Al'Taieu sea to liberate Ancient Beastcoins and AF+1 materials from random unsuspecting mobs. With no BLM this week and 10 participants, we decided to try farming Temenos West.

Attendees: Lenor (NIN), Marzanna (NIN), Vashanti (RDM), Ronin (BRD), Jojax (MNK), Gruive (SAM), Solonuke (DRK), Alvar (THF), Igneusnex (DRG), Drargen (RDM).

No that wasn't a typo. Drargen came as a red squishy.

The going was a bit slow in certain places and we had some moments of desperation when time was running out and the mobs were stingy with the Time chests, but we managed to pull through with a win! We even managed not to wipe on the last floor without sleepga to make things easier. Who needs BLMs when you have obstinate SRMeatheads?

Loot Report: 56 ancient beastcoins including 5 from previous runs means 6 coins per participant. Congratulations to Ronin for getting one of three BRD AF+1 drops (/swt) Congratulations to Gruive for grabbing the SMN AF+1 drop.

Anyway, Marzanna copped death by relentless Enhanced Onion (Mandagora) attack.

Drargen came as RDM so Marzanna could come as NIN - what a hero. Of course being backline support didn't stop him from dying. Drargen got murdered by Enhanced Blobs (Slime) that woke up from Sleep on the wrong side of the bed. Congratulations Drargen! You still hold the LS "Death Magnet" title.

Fantastic team work everyone - especially on the last floor. Good job on the win! ^^

Saturday Limbus Report, Temenos North

We've been doing Apollyon SE for the past two weeks or so. For a change of pace, we decided to give Temenos North a try. It's the first time any of us has stepped in there - including Gruive's "special guest", Haplo.

Attendance Roll: Marzanna (WHM), Drargen (DRG), Alvar (THF), Ronin (BRD), Haplo (NIN), Vashanti (RDM), Lenor (NIN), Gruive (BLU), Solonuke (DRK), Igneusnex (DRG).

Temenos North consists of 7 floors, guarded by different races of beastmen. Each of the beastment can perform 2 hours corresponding to their job type. The most annoying thing would have to be the fact that you can only open one box out of the three available for each floor.

The first floor contained Moblin mobs - RDM x4, WAR x2. We decided to wipe the floor with all of them.

The second floor contained 4 Giant mobs - MNK, BST, RNG, WAR. We weren't up for chunky giants , especially when one of them can charm your party members, so we took down the portal mob and moved on.

The third floor contained Sahagin mobs - MNK x2, DRG, WHM, DRG. We were running out of time, and fast so we popped the time box on this floor.

The fourth floor was when things got really hairy. The mobs we were up against Demon mobs - BLMx4, SMN, DRK, WAR. Considering the fact that The majority of the party were "meatheads", I wanted to avoid mobs with potential AoE 2 hours like Manafont and Astral Flow. But the demons were surprisingly squishy, so we attemped to clear the floor.

Pwned by Astral flow. This would become the main theme for the rest of the night.

We were running out of time fast. With only 5 minutes to spare we decided to fight the remaining SMN mob while weakened and managed to open the time box with 1 minute to spare.

Fifth floor was a piece of cake: 4 Antican mobs - RNG, PLD, BLM, WAR. Not much of a threat at all. We wiped the floor and took the time box.

The sixth floor was probably the most "fun" out of all the floors. Tonberry mob x8 - SMN and THF x3 coming down in pairs, BLM and NIN trigger mobs. All our favourite mobs on one floor.

Fun.
We were doing OK until someone walked into the last THF and SMN tonberry pair. We had no choice by to take down the NIN trigger mob to get another time box. Of course we were totally expecting everyone to die to Mijin Gakure, so my group hid until the little creepy blew up (along with everyone else).

No time to fight the last two tonberries so we sneaked past them and proceeded to the last floor where 5 Goblin mobs were waiting for us. DRK, RDM x2, BLM x2.
No sleepga = deathga.

No win, but good first-time effort for all. Good job everyone ^^

Loot report: 3 ancient beastcoins for all except Lenor who decided to forfiet her share for the Plaited Cord. 5 ancient beastcoins for the pot next week.

"Seasons Greetings," Take 1.

Today we tried to take on one of the hardest 30 KSNM's around - Seasons Greetings!

A terrible show-down with four NM Treants - Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Unfortunately Kamos had a newb moment and forgot that you didnt need to mass sleep the treants - they aggro based on the seasons two hour. Only manaburns sleep the treants en-mass after -ga magic :(.

We had one failed attempt, Thanks to Marzy for volunteering her Orb. Now that Drargen helped clear things up on the battle plan, we will attempt the fight again shortly. Thanks again to Lenor, Vash, Marzy, Soro, Joboh, Littleawkward for comming out - I promise next time we'll get the win on it!

Saturday Limbus Report - Apollyon SE

Due to technical difficulties, Mr. /GRUNTS can't be here today, so I'm giving the report X)

Nine people attended today but 2/9 of them are RDMs (optional BLM) and everyone else wanted to be "meat head" jobs so we decided to do Apollyon SE again.
Apollyon SE - starring:
Keyne (RDM), Marzanna (NIN), Solonuke (DRK), Jojax (MNK), Gruive (SAM),
Vashanti (RDM) Drargen (DRG), Igneusnex (DRG), Lenor (THF)

I got to be THF again - Yay! Luckily I bought that Thief's Knife last night X)

All-in-all, the run went quite smoothly. Poor Marzanna though, none of the meat heads were "playing nice".

Loot Report:
- AF+1 materials went to Jojax (BRD) and Gruive (SAM) - congratulations!! \(^ ^)/
- AF+1 materials lost because no one wanted it - PLD (Floor 2), BRD (Floor 3), BLM (Floor 4)
- Total number of Ancient Beastcoins: 48 - with 5 going to each attendant and 3 going into the LS pot for next week's run.
- Smalt Chip went to Keyne for use somewhere else since we already have one collecting dust in my Mog Locker.

Casualty Report:
- Drargen x2 - no regard for his own well being whatsoever! ^^
- Keyne - Horror Cloud + Darksday = red HP all around

An Introduction, Part II

{Hello!} FFXI fans, SR LS second banana here! o(^ ^)o

I've always wanted to chronicle the adventures (and sometimes mis-adventures) of the LS for a while now except I'm lazy and I like to procrastinate. So having a co-writer is a good thing for motivation!

Despite only starting this blog project now, ShadowRavenloft is quite and old Linkshell. Dating back to December 2004, the linkshell was established to house the homeless Shin Ravenloft players who migrated from International Ragnarok Online. Over the years we've picked up a lot of new faces and have gone on countless adventures together ranging from Nation, Zilart, Promathia missions to BCNMs and ordinary everyday quests such as Artifact I quests.

As such, I'll be concentrating on writing up the backlog of undocumented history as well as any important current events that come along.

Unfortunately, with timezones and real life commitments we can't be everywhere at once. So if any of you SR minions would like to submit linkshell related adventures or events please send content and screenshots to:

An Introduction, Part I

Welcome to Ravenloft Memoirs, the immortal memory of our FFXI Linkshell, Shadow Ravenloft. This blog is created with the intent to provide a recorded legacy, one which we can look back on when our time in FFXI ends to remember our best accomplishments, and even our most destructive failures.

Im really excited to launch this project, as I've been playing with this idea for a long time now. I think this will give Shadow Ravenloft a new image that PHP forums just can't provide. Though the forums will remain the main resource for organization and co-operation, this will show case the fruits of our long hours spent questing, exping and working together. Ding parties, missions, BCNMs, KSNMs, and every other important event or milestone on the linkshell will be chronicled on these pages.

The main two contributors who compose the SRaven Watch are Kamos (myself) and Lenor (Second LS banana). I will make my best effort to attend as many events as I can. Meaning if you want coverage of your event (if we can't make it)... send us information, screen shots or logs insure that your moment in time has the chance to be exalted on the public record. I'll be concentrating on the recent and/or future adventures and mishaps.

Looking back at n00b parties

While we're on the subject of n00bs. Here's a few n00b LS parties we used to have.

Mwajr (MNK), Yashaa (SAM), Sempai (BRD - lol), Lenor (n00b NIN ^^), Lunakitty (BLM), Lumialle (WHM).
Same party only more action! In the background is Malacath just hanging around.
Mass Valkurm Dunes parties. Back then nobody cared how big the party was - as long as everyone was having fun. Here you see the makings of the static party that I'll never forget: Lenor (NIN), Lunakitty (BLM), Lumialle (RDM), Yashaa (DRK), Agela (WAR, later replaced by Sixe), Ronin (BRD).

Our first time at the D00nz

Do you remember the first time you were at the "D00nz"?
My own memory of it is pretty hazy. But fortunately, I have screenshot evidence of the first time an SR group stepped onto the sands of Valkurm Dunes...

And wouldn't you know it? We were power-levelled - *lol*
Here's the group gathered together at La Thiene Plateau: Lenor (THF), Sixe (WAR), Lumialle (RDM - I think). Yashaa also came to "supervise" on his n00b WHM.

Before we continue, a little bit of background is required on Sixe. Back on iRO, Sixe's character was known was "The Bunny Knight" because she would always wear a pair of bunny ears. She tends to be a bit n00bish too. Marzanna would probably find her a rival for the biggest LS nubcake crown.

Anyways! Getting back to the story, we ended up testing the waters with a few 'Dune bunnies. Needlees to say, Sixe-bunny lost the Bunny x Bunny fight.
Medic! Everyone gathers around Sixe while waiting for Alby who seemed to have disappeared somewhere. He likes to do that a lot.
Alby arrives to save the day. Alby's a pretty quiet little Taru, but deep down, I'm pretty sure he was all: "what the heck did you guys get up to?"
So ends our "Doonz" adventure. Not sure how much XP we all got. I don't think it was all that much...

In the beginning...

It was end of September, 2004. After two years of adventuring in the world of Rune-Midgards, a controversial decision by the iRO Game Masters to permanently ban one of their mambers prompted the founding members of Shin Ravenloft to dissolve the guild and leave the game forever.With World of Warcraft still months away from an Australian release, Lunakitty, the leader of the Shin Ravenloft decided that the guild migrate to Final Fantasy XI's world of Vana'diel. She followed the footsteps of Alby, an ex-SR wizard who decided to migrate to FFXI a few months earlier.

Lunakitty along with a handful of Shin Ravenloft members: Lenor, Sixe, Lumialle, Asheroth, SirCyrus., Shin Jace (aka Jaceric), Killian Valentine (aka Yashaa), Lumpyy (for a short time), Dacheat and Dias Crimson (also for a short time), decided to make Leviathan Server their new home.

I wasn't there when the new linkshell was created. Lenor was still stuck in iRO on Turtle Island trying to get Assassin to lv 99.

Apparently had Lunakitty met up with Jaceric outside the grocery store in Southern San d'Oria with the intention to buy a linkshell. Gil must have been hard to come by at the time because Jaceric was surprised that Lunakitty had the money to purchase one.

The linkshell was purchased but there was another hurdle. For some reason the name "Shin Ravenloft" had already been taken.
So the two n00bs sat in front of the Linkshell NPC, trying to think of a new name. Eventually, it was decided to name the new linkshell ShadowRavenloft.

On November 28, 2004 all ties to iRO were officially broken. To commemorate the occasion, 1000 dead branches were released on Turtle Island wreaking havoc on unsuspecting lv 90+ players levelling in the area and apparently killing the GM who tried to clean up the mess afterwards.
And so began our life as n00bs...
